SHE WROTE: Covers! We Got Covers!

Jen just sent us the mock-ups for the book jacket and for the actual book cover.

Here's the book jacket, very chick lit:

And here's the actual cover of the book, the boards that the book is bound in, very Bob:

So it's kind of Bob under cover in a romantic comedy.

I LOVE THIS. SMP is the best.

Very cool, very original. Is there any way they will signal to the prospective reader that the actual book cover is camo? Or will it be left to serendipity?

While on tour, perhaps Bob would only sign for those carrying the camo cover?

Love these pictures. Great marketing tool. Not to mention a comment on the writers themselves.

It would have been cool if the camo cover had read, "Bob Mayer and Jennifer Crusie." Just a wicked, random thought, considering your dueling natures ...

This reminds of when the Harry Potter books came out with "adult" covers so we wouldn't be ashamed of reading a children's book. This way all the manly readers can carry the camo cover with pride.

Hands down this is one of the most inventive covers I have see in a long time!

Seriously, I think they should switch them. Have the camo on the outside, visible. I bet it would sell a ton more copies....or do half camo half cartoon.

I think the cartoon cover is like every other cartoon cover out there, but camo is so unique and the names really stand out. I bet it would sell more, simply because men will pick up the camo cover...but they wouldn't be caught dead reading the cartoon cover...and it wouldn't occur to them to take the paper cover off. No one does.....so noone will notice the great camo underneath.

I don't mean to be negative...I just really think this could affect sales.

Something to consider.

Did you know another author out there has a cherry on the cover of her book? I thought you had a trademark on the cherry.
