SHE WROTE: In New York and WORKING HERE

Yes, I'm in New York, but I'm WORKING, damn it.

And I think the new direction the book is moving in is great.

This is another way Bob and I are opposites: He likes to plan the book out and then write it; I like to write it and see what happens. The combination of the two is good but it causes us both great pain. I hate following an outline and moan and gnash my teeth and turn out really mediocre work because I can't follow my whims, but I do turn out work and discover new things. And then the outline changes and Bob moans and gnashes his teeth because the plot has changed, and then he says, "Hey, we could do this," and makes another outline. I find his faith in outlines touching, particularly in the terms of our partnership, but as long as he's willing to keep making them as the plot changes and the characters develop, I'll try to follow them until something new and interesting turns up. Agnes really is a much better book already because of the combination of the two. Even if Bob is screaming in whatever Carolina he lives in.

And by the way, Robert, that damn AOL is bouncing all of my e-mails to you so this may be the only way we're communicating at this point. I don't know why AOL hates me, I never did anything to it.

Your post reminds me of an old saying: "A woman has the last word in any argument. Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument".
Poor Bob. Did he really know what he was getting himself into when he said he wanted to write a book with you?

Yeah dollface, you desperately need a gmail account. AOL is for amateurs. Amateur AOL lovers, feel free to flame me. I can take it.

Nice touch about finding Bob's faith in outlines touching. Not over the top, but still I have tears in my eyes from laughing.
