SHE WROTE: More Stuff

Okay, really, we're only going to blog once a week but we got such great news today, I had to share.

First of all, we have this great cover for our book:

But it's pretty chick-litty, so underneath it, on the real cover of the book, SMP is going to put camoflauge and it looks like this:

Did you see the little alligators in there? SMP rocks, that's all I can say. Best publisher ever.

And then we got our first review from Booklist:

Crusie, Jennifer and Mayer, Robert. Don't Look Down. Apr. 2006. 380p. St. Martin's, $24.95 (0-312-34812-6).Romance.

It sounded simple. Go to Savannah. Finish directing an action-adventure film. Earn some quick money. Get a chance to see sister Daisy and niece Pepper. Instead, as soon as Lucy Armstrong arrives on the set of Don't Look Down, she discovers that nothing about her current job is simple. Lucy is stuck with a lackluster cast. What she has seen of the script is, even by Hollywood standards, unbelievably incoherent. The stunt coordinator is none other than her annoying ex-husband, Connor Nash, and her sister seems somehow to have become a zombie. Then Bryce McKay, the movie's leading man, turns up with Captain J. T. Wilder, whom Bryce has personally hired to be his stunt double and military consultant. The last thing Lucy needs is a taciturn, testosterone-rich, too-sexy-for-his-own-good male like J. T. on her set, but once the going gets tough, someone like J. T. turns out to be exactly the kind of person Lucy decides she wants in her life. This is the first collaboration between best-selling and award-winning romance writer Crusie and adventure-thriller writer Mayer, and it is a rare and original delight. Mayer's delectably dry sense of humor perfectly complements Crusie's signature brand of sharp wit, and together the two have cooked up a sexy, sassy, and smart combination of romance and suspense that is simply irresistible. --John Charles

I'm doing the Snoopy Dance. Bob is staring morosely into the water, contemplating his rotting dock, but inside he's doing the Snoopy Dance, too, I'm sure of it.

So who do I bribe to get an early copy of DLD?

And is it just me or does Bob remind anyone else of Eeyore in the Cinderella Deal?

It is a beautiful jacket!! Wow!!!

I am still laughing at your emails BTW. And I love the sound of Bob's home, solitude and peace. Craving a bit of that.

I met you both in Reno--although 'met' is too strong a term. How do you meet a whirlwind and a man pretending not to be with 2000 romance writers??

The partnership is great--I can't wait to read the book--which is the whole point right :)

I love the idea of dual covers! Your "Partnership" sounds like it has brought a bit of sparkle to both of your lives. As in, you were fine working alone, but together you are adding more.

Your blog moved... but your pictures didn't! Just thought I'd let you know that the picture links were broken -- and it's such a great cover, I don't want anyone to miss out.

Counting the days until it's released!

Never liked romances because of the lack of plot. Never liked action/adventure because of the lack of YEC and YEX. I may actually cough up the 25 bucks for this one. DLD sounds great!
