SHE WROTE: Brain Fried

Bob is going to write about the day, I think, which would be good because I don't remember a lot of it except that Kathryn Huse and Katy Cooper worked their butts off at our signing and Corrina Lavitt was there handing me water and we couldn't have done it without them and we owe them big.

In fact, the whole Boston conference was wonderful. Suze Brockmann and Loretta Chase and Lisa Gardner were here and that's always good, and one of my old high school students, Alex Taylor, came with his beautiful wife and equally beautiful son and that was a kick, and oh, yeah, Bob and I signed three thousand copies of Don't Look Down. Okay, small exaggeration but still a lot of copies. After awhile you get dazed. Did he tell you I signed his name to one at a stock signing? I was sure he would. He tells everybody. Argh.

Last night I sent Bob our horoscopes from my favorite astrology site, the Michael Lutin site, and it said that "Virgos are suffering silently." And Bob wrote back, "You couldn't suffer silently if you were gagged." See, I think this is a GOOD thing. But it gives you an idea of how tired he is of hearing my voice, poor baby. It is possible to have too much Bob-and-Jenny. After we finished dinner, I said, "I love you like a brother but I don't want to see you again until morning." He was all for it.

Tomorrow we fly to Cincinnati where I will get to sleep in my own bed and Bob can hide upstairs and e-mail me until he gets to go home on Friday. It's amazing how much you yearn for your own bed when you've been away for awhile. And my animals. I've been dog-less for a week now. That's just wrong.

I know, this is a terrible blog. Brain fried here. Maybe Bob will do better. Bob?

It was not a terrible blog. good for you for keeping it up - I can't imagine how exhausting it must be to be on all day, and then cap it off by trying to write entertaining posts here. And yet you both soldier on. Now that's true grit!

DLD is fab, fab, fab, by the way: and now I have a whole new vocabulary with which to beat the guys I work with into submission. "Out of the kill zone, buddy." Excellent. They already respect me; now they will fear me as well.

Thanks for the belated spoiler alert! I can't wait for my copy of DLD to arrive so I can go back and read that post.

As a sister Virgoan (Virgoite? Virgonian?), I can vouch for the silent suffering and will plead your case with Bob if necessary.

(-: I'm also a Virgo, and I *never* suffer in silence. How in the heck is the world supposed to correct itself if we Virgos aren't outspoken about critiquing it?

Have a nice trip home, and I hope it really recharges your batteries. Just remember, a significant percentage of the tour is over! You can do it!

I knew we had something in common, Jenny. I'm a virgo, too. Maybe that's the connection we had at the Peabody book signing. - Your close pesonal friend..

Not a terrible blog. You guys are such troopers to keep this blog going, posting each day. We all really appreciate it.

Okay so I had already purchase my copy of DLD last week but I happend to be in a bookstore again yesterday, made a bit of a fuss when I couldn't find the DLD's, and got someone to find the stash for me. They had them on display near the front of the store, where the new books go - which makes sense. But they were stacked on a lower shelf! Definitely not eye level. Huh. Grabbed a few copies and left them artistically arranged ON TOP. Huh. Don't mess with Cherrybombs.

While in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday, I completed my mission by landing at a Borders and grabbing my copy of DLD. The cover looked great sitting right there on the New Hardbacks table at the front entrance.

There were many copies, proving that this store expects many copies to sell. There are several Borders in South Florida, as well as B&Ns. Great location for stock signings and booksigning events.

Just sayin'. *g*

Go, Christina B! Love that (I plan on doing the same thing - when I find a town with a bookstore - this po-dunk living has definite drawbacks *sigh*)

I've been gagged. I still wasn't quiet. Hmm, maybe not a good thing to bring up here, but there ya go. Of course, I'm Libra. This is NO silencing of the Librans. *pointed look at Bob*

Gag? Hah, Virgos laugh at such paltry things--I can chew through concrete if need be to be able to express myself freely! "Strong and silent" is NOT a Virgoan(?) attribute! Of course, since I am born on the cusp, I have Leo tendencies, so I am a double threat! Hear me ROAR! But I feel for you both--24/7 togetherness is NOT normal and it is especially trying if you are having to be "on" all the time. Think I would go a little nuts too. (You both need SMALL dogs that you can take with you so you have a warm furry to snuggle up with on the road at night--does me a world of good to have Lucy next to me every night.) Thanks for sharing...

Hey Brenda! *waving frantically* Check out Amazon.com for a copy of DLD. I've been to Texas--lots of open spaces, not a lot of anything else. Go to Amazon,honey--they have DLD and will be thrilled to sell it to you!

I love how everyone is avoiding the most obvious way to make Virgo into an adjective. Yup, that would be Virgin. *vbg* Sorry, but someone had to say it. And this coming from someone with the nice safe zodiac sign Sagittarius.

or would that be a substantive adjective...I don't know...something like that.

To Christina B. and Brenda, I know your heart is in the right place here, but. . . . . PLEASE don't move the books around! I was a bookseller for many years, and take my word for it, this just makes more work for (and pisses off) the very people we Cherrybombs want to befriend! Instead, after you've read DLD, go back to the store where you bought it, and RAVE about it to the booksellers, so they'll read it and rave about it to their customers. One of my favorite customers helped me find Jenny's books this way many years ago, so I'm just trying to pass on the favor.

~~Jeanna, in a part of Texas where DLD is stocked in all the stores I've looked in. . . . :-)

I feel your pain sister. I've been traveling for 10 days. I get home Tuesday and I can't wait to sleep on MY PILLOW!

See you in Louisville Thursday!

Chelle

P.S. I saw DLD in a HUGE Target here in San Jose, CA on the main aisle and TWO people were looking it at!!

You seemed coherent enough at the booksigning, but that was before they made you sign all the stock.

Thanks for standing close for 2 pictures (I really did blink) even though the photographer answered a cell phone call in between them :)

"You couldn't suffer silently if you were gagged." He's never heard a Sagittarius in major stress mode. Poor Brad, was trapped in a car, with me driving, and I barely drew breath for over 100 miles. When I'm stressed, I talk, and talk...Lord knows you both are under enough stress to keep anyone babbling.

Hang in there, guys. A short break is just around the corner.
