HE WROTE/SHE WROTE: This Is The End

BOB: As the Door’s song says: "This is the end." The last entry of this blog. I think I wrote that because I watched Apocalypse Now Redux yesterday. But, the good news is that on the 1st of January 2007, we begin the new blog over at http://www.crusiemayer.com/workshop/.

I can hardly remember the beginning of 2006. They say time goes by faster when you get older, but 2006 was a very long year. Many good times, some hard times, yada, yada.

That’s Sentimental Bob.

JENNY: That’s Accurate Bob, too. I had a wonderful time, but it’s a miracle we’re still standing. Well, I’m not. I’m in bed with hot tea and cookies, six hundred miles away. And he’s shooting at pleasure boats from the dock. In other words, all is well.

BOB: We do very much appreciate your support. We never thought there’d be a group like the CherryBombs. Years from now, as you sit around the camp-fire in the smouldering relics of our doomed civilization, you can tell your grandchildren: “I was there at the very beginning.” And mightily bored they will be.

2007 will be different. Fewer conferences. More writing. The writing blog. World Peace. Cats and dogs playing together. Two of the four horseman of the Apocalypse riding by and waving with glee. Five of the seven seals broken. A beast lurching out of the darkness. Little squirrels we’ve helped with our little tiny instruments, capering about happily.

That’s Optimistic Bob.

JENNY: A sign of the Apocalypse if there ever was one.

BOB: Yepper.

JENNY: Happy 2007, everybody. We are not doomed.

BOB: Nothing but good times ahead.

Sentiment and Optimism from Bob? That was a little scary. Well, we've finally reached the end and you two can heave a sigh of relief. Or something. Try not to hyperventilate.

Bob wrote: They say time goes by faster when you get older, but 2006 was a very long year.

Sooo, does that mean we made you feel young again?

And Jenny wrote: I’m in bed with hot tea and cookies, six hundred miles away.

But we made Jenny feel sick. I think you've got a motif going on there. Knock it off and get well.

Best wishes to both of you for all good things in the New Year! I think it's safe to say you'll always have our support, and if you ever miss our nonsense, please come visit us at the new place. We'll throw a log on the camp-fire and put on a kettle for tea, and then we'll ask you, very nicely of course, to tell us a story. Or two. It'd be like old times, only better.

Nothing but good times ahead.

Virgin blog? Very fitting I say.

It is now 12.59 am in Oz and I've just seen the New Year in. Happy New Year Cherry Bombs. Thanks for a great 12 months.

And many more. You guys complete me.

Rock on 07. With the GAM and the Cherry visiting our shores, there is much to look forward to. And Agnes and Shane of course.

What a fantastic year.

Goodbye, farewell, aufweidersehen.... see you at the Grille.

So basically even the combined fabulousness of your combined imaginations didn't extend that far, huh? No wonder Jenny's in bed with tea and cookies. Reality is so much scarier than fiction.

Happy New Year, DUG. Its so nice to have friends who can travel ahead in time and reassure the rest of us that yes the world survives another stroke of midnight.

Jenny and Bob,

Happy New Year!

Thanks for all the good times, past, present and future. You two are the best.

And my stories will never bore my grandchildren. Might scare them, but bore? Never. Of course, they will probably think I'm just squirel food.

Have a safe New Years everyone. Don't do anything I wouldn't do.

2006 was great. 2007 sounds great too, except maybe for the whole lurching beast thing. (And I think that should be cats and dogs living together, if we're quoting movies here.) I had a grand time playing here, looking forward to the writing lessons. Thanks for everything, the good, the bad, and the snarky. Counting down to Agnes and Shane. See y'all at the Bar and Grill.

Can't say it any better than the chorus of My Wish, by Rascall Flatts:
"My wish for you is that life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while your out there gettin' where you're gettin' to
I hope you know somebody loves you and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this is my wish."

Thanks for the great times.

Happy New Year Down under gal. Happy New Year Jenny and Bob Happy New Year Fellow CherryBombs.

May all your dreams come true.

Currently rereading Fred's book aka "Anyone but You". Love the description of Fred sitting on the concrete "like a bulked up vulture". Can't you just picture that? LOL

I loved "Sizzle". I didn't know that simply dabbing on perfume could be so erotic (page 28 of the Australian first edition). Now if Jenny could find a way to make spraying yourself with toilet water erotic, and I am sure she could, then I would really be happy. (What an awful name for something that smells pretty--toilet water. The industry needs to rethink that.

Hey youse guys I thought we were partying here tonight. I was counting on it. I cancelled my plans so that I could spend the evening with the CherryBombs and it sounds like the CBs have other plans. Oh well, see you at the CB Bar and Grill then. /;

A special thank you to Bob and Jenny. With all that you have to do, you gave us all this insight to your journey... AND, you actually read the comments - WOW!

Our pastor spoke on "grace" this morning with the defination of unmerited favor. It seems to me that grace is exactly what Jenny and Bob have bestowed on us for the last 365 days. We did nothing to deserve it, we could not pay for it and we did not even have to say thank you. Your graciousness is unmatched. You have made it possible for a wonderful community to form and many friendships happen helping in untold ways.
So I will add my thank you along with all the rest - You are the best.

RG, I don't think you can blame me for that mess. I've never even been here for a party! As a matter of fact, every time I go out of town, someone has a damn party. Reeks of conspiracy.

Mary, good luck if you plan to close that door. I tried that once way back in the Old Coot days. Never seen a door that needed closing more than that one. It was extremely difficult, let me tell you. Ended up having to shove a chair under the doorknob, IIRC.

And now we hear that Bob is blogging on his own blog (with comments? are you sure? he thought so once before, you know), and Jenny has decided to hang out in the comments, and the Writing blog has started a day early, and the CBs are all posting on the same day as an experiment, and, and-- I think my brain just exploded.

Don't worry, I'll clean that up before I go. Let me just grab a trash bag and a couple paper towels...

Yep, good times have arrived.

I am really going to miss this place but if Jenny and Bob, Bob and Jenny are moving to another site and the CBs are moving to the Bar and Grill then I would be all alone in the basement.

"Looks like I have it all to myself." Biiig grin. Does a little shuffle step. "Kinda quiet with everyone gone."

"But it's all MINE! Bwahahaha!" Now a lively Snoopy dance.

"Wait. Did that tree in the corner just move or was it...ACK!" Edges toward the door. "That tree is definitely moving."

Breaks into a run. "Save me CBs! I promise I'll be good, if you just get me back to the Bar and Grill."

Over in the shadows, Jenny turns to Bob. "Huh. Never actually seen one of those person-shaped holes in a door in real life."

Bob rises from where he's been crouching with a tree on his head. "ZaZa can really put on some speed." Shakes his head, impressed.

Much hilarity ensues.

Happy New Year!!!

RG - I just have to ask.

You climbed a tree to look in the basement window? I'm trying to get a visual of that.

Happy New Year to CBs around the world.

Zaza, you know they're going to charges us for those repairs, don't you?

Wait for me,mcb wait for me. I was just over here hiding behind Jenny and Bob after I turned over the keys and all hell broke loose. There were flashlights shining in the windows and zaza went screeching out of here and everything. Now J&B are gone too and it is too darn dark and quiet down here. Smells clean though. OH my Gawd what was that that brushed my leg.

Mcb HELP. Mcb Save me Aaaach!

Finally the end of the literate CBs. We bloggers have to stick together to conquer the world of the literati.

There's always gotta be SOMEbody who wants to have the last word.

Luckily, I am immune to such temptations... um... what was that heavy thud sound, like that of a really massive door swinging shut... was that the sound of bolts being shot? Hello? Is anyone there?

At 2/1/07 12:13 AM, Blogger Scope Dope Cherrybomb said...

All right. All right. Whose there? I can hear you breathing. I just came back to see if Mcb came looking for me but she didn't. Woe is me! Who is that over in the corner? Is it one of you from the attic? I went up there to try and clean and could not get in the door. When Jenny said she wanted us out of the basement that went for you people in the attic too.

Blogger and some of his buddies were sneaking around here the last time I was leaving. He thinks he can scare us, huh. We are CherryBombs. We don't scare easily.

Had some pancakes at the Bar and Grill this morning. That place has definite possibilities but I just can't make myself stay away from here. I guess Mollie will fix that problem for me. This has been a great community for me to live in this past year. I guess the CB Bar and Grill will be too since my friends seem to have moved there.

Bye Blogger. Can't say I'll miss you.

All right, one last nostalgic peek around. It's sort of like the last day of your freshman year of college, when you're really supposed to have checked out of the dorms by now. The halls are kind of echoey -- Boxes are loaded, bathroom lockers are emptied. You've all shared some crazy growing pains and laughs, and now it's over. You may room or party with some of these people again, but things will never be quite the same.

Sigh. Think I'll go visit the pool hall in the basement, maybe listen to a little Dixie Chicks.

Scope, I was here; where were you? You have to stop taking off like that on your own.

Well since they have not yet put on the padlocks I'll take this opportunity to inform any stragglers that the CBs can now be found at their new digs here:

http://cbbarandgrill.bjwcreations.com

Just copy and paste into your
browser. You know the drill.

Wait wait wait just wait one gosh darned minute. Did I say I was done? geez.

Its still a new place and Zaza and Bryan are still trying to figure out how to make the lights work without having to kick the wall twice and tap dance under the light fixture. So here's your workaround.

Clicking on the "Comments" at the bottom of each post doesn't work right just now. So instead CLICK ON THE POST TITLE. For instance the top one right now is "Dessert bar by CMS". So you would click on that title. That will open up a new page showing the post, the comments, and the comment window.

Also (geez you people are soooo impatient) there is further information near the top where it said "FAQS". Bryan just put that in so its a work in progress but you might find it helpful.

Just follow all the muddy foot prints. You'll find the place.

At 2/1/07 3:13 PM, Blogger Sheryl said...

You really need to go check out the dessert bar. There's something for everyone there - even the lurkers. We didn't forget you. COme on down, it'll be alright. We're all bark. Hmm, dark chocolate almond bark. I'm sure there's some over there.

WOW - such an echo - place must truly be empty. What a ride this year, and we owe it all to Bob and Jenny. Thanks for the memories, Bob and Jenny!! It was a swell year! Looking forward to 2007 and the new blogs.
Scope Dope, you really need to exit the basement. If you keep going back, you will be like the horse who runs into a burning barn because it's his safe place. Go over to the Grill, it's nice and warm and there might be some pancakes left!
I got lucky and missed the clean-up, but did a walk through and everything looks good, really empty but good.
See everyone over at the Bar and Grill!!

Just had to come back for one last look around mcb. I am really going to miss this place. I was comfortable here and I learned so much from Him and Her and all the CBs too.

I am not like the horse that runs into the burning barn. I am like the boyfriend who keeps coming back for one of his things at a time, never taking everything so that he can keep coming back. Mollie is probably all that will save me. It is quite lonely here and I did go to brunch at the Bar and Grill. The pancakes were good and the company was great. I will get used to it I guess. I am going to miss the fun stuff from Her and Him, Him and her.

Ack. yeah, I know it's the third. But I've been working the past three days and haven't really sat down at my computer for anything since the 30th. I don't want to be the last, but I just HAD to sneak in here and see what it was like after it was all cleaned up. It's quiet. And dark. And it smells kinda funny, even through all the pine cleanser. And I never noticed that the couch was THAT color. Oh my. And what the heck happened to the door? But still, it was home through some really good days, and a sanctuary through some really hard days. And I am really going to miss it.

I'll poke my head in at the B&G later today. Maybe Louis will have one of his cowboy sons make a brisket?

Love you guys!

Did to.

Thanks, Marcia. Part of the shyness is that Bryan really is my brother. LOL I'm feeling pretty cautious about stepping into his playground, so to speak... even though he *was* the one that told me about it and nagged me into doing a writer's blog instead of what I had been doing.

So, I guess, theoretically, if he starts to wish I was back in the attic... he'd have to take on some of the blame, right? ;-) LOL

But the other part of the shyness is that I'm not actually a Cherry Bomber with all that goes with that title. I've been lurking a bit at the bar and grill, and I read the how to know if you're a cherry bomber post. My score was pathetic. LOL

I'm just a blogger who reads a lot, and writes fiction too. And I am a sister. LOL (not the nun type either)

Ok.. that's a lot of answer. Running back to the attic to regroup.

Boy. Learn something new every day. Looks like I'd better try out the bar and grill or risk being homeless.

I think I heard that spring is coming soon, at least according the the groundhog.
Maybe we should plant some pretty spring flowers around the front door. Then when folks wander by they will smile and remember all the good times.

Oooh, climbing roses and honeysuckle. What a good idea flowers are, anon. For the good times...

I also loved the poem, Louis! You are such a GAM!

Ah yes... I'm certain that Zelda could give us some great suggestions.

OH - we have wet and cold here in central CA. Hope some gets down your way.

None of the above - we are having much too much fun razing OH to get out of here. We are, however, also over at the Bar and Grill (two places at once... so clever!!).

Happy Friday everyone!!

OH, thanks for the thoughts. I just finished making a Boston cream pie for dessert this evening but I added bananas between the filling just to keep it healthy.
Yes, you are funny, kind and a very gifted young lady. I only wish I had another son so I could introduce you.
Now, as lou and Louis have said you are keeping up with your studies aren't you? You have been over at ARGH ink,HWSWHow to Write workshop, Unfortunate Miss Fortunes, plus the CBBar&grill and probably lots of others. And all that is well and good just make sure you leave enough time for your real work. We all are expecting great things from you.

well, i just had a thought. your jenb? no, doubtful. hmmm. see, now i'm curious.

oh yeah, you had to ask today, didn't you? the day i have to read two books and do an essay for tomorrow, plus go to a very boring lecture. and haven't started any of it.

(oh bob, lou's not around, right? i'm going, i'm going!)

and heck, forget about the son, i like FOOD. and what do you mean, another son? hmmmm, i'm picking up clues. maybe by friday i'll be down to half a million people.

oh, and would you like to do my PR?
